The Internet of Things is coming. Oliver Tuszik, Vice President and CEO of Cisco Germany, recently stated at a Berlin conference that the firm will have almost 50 billion connected devices on its networks by 2020. Cisco claims it will be “number one in the security market” and in preparation for interconnectivity on a mass-scale, will be investing more in its IT security business.
Experts warn that some of the new connectivity devices will not be “built for cyber security.” Central to the reinforcement of IT security is a network-centric approach to security as well as data protection. This means that new measures need to be put into place to guarantee security.
